Prescott on Harman
The Independent reports that John Prescott has launched an an outspoken attack on Harriet Harman and blamed a lack of talent for Labour's failure to communicate a clear message to the public:
He warned that Gordon Brown was being poorly advised and that Lord Mandelson was the only major figure left organising the Labour fight behind the scenes. "There is no direction in campaigning – we are drifting," he said. "You ask yourself, why did we get in the Gurkhas situation? That would never have happened before. So there's a feeling in the party that, somehow, we're not getting a grip on it. There is something lacking."
He accused Ms Harman, his successor as deputy Labour leader, of spending too much time championing equalities issues. "I think the deputy leadership role is for going out and campaigning," he said.
"I suppose, if I was being honest about it, I think too much of the emphasis has been on female rights, which I have supported all my life, and we're not getting other messages across. Most of it is about the equality issue. It is very important, but it is not our biggest campaigning issue, whatever they say about it."

I read this morning that Labour ministers are rallying behind Gordon, in big public show of unity, before the Labour Party Conference. Good to see then that John Prescott is wonderfully off message - as usual. Hee! Hee! Hee!
"Why did we get in the Gurkhas situation?" John Prescott has clearly not worked in, or had experience of, The Ministry of Defence, The Foreign Office or The Security Services. Not so much Cabinet Government, more Governing The Cabinet. Hee! Hee! Hee!
The problem with Harriet Harman is that she is a particular type of woman. A Left-wing woman. If you attack what she says, the Left will immediately say you are only attacking her because she is a woman. In reality you are not. You are attacking her because she is talking palpable nonsense.
This woman is quite unfit to be Deputy Leader of The Labour Party.
The reasoning. When you campaign you are supposed to speak to all of the electorate - not just 50% of it. No doubt she assumes, like most on The PC Left, that Gordon Brown speaks for the other 50%. As a consequence when she speaks most men switch off and this is why. First of all she blamed men for the recession and then, wait for it, claimed women would be worst hit by the recession. If that wasn't enough, she then advocates positive discrimination so all these wicked men can be stopped from doing any more damage. Will this include Gordon too? Yes love. Roll on General Election so we can see the back of people like you.

Many people lampooned the 'radical' London borough councils that were pushing for equality agendas in the 1980s. Now these are accepted across both the public and private sectors.
Is it sexist/unfair to say that men caused the recession? Of course not. Take it from someone who once worked in the City and who knows how it works/will always work.
