The real Plaid Cymru

Four examples of Plaid Cymru's control freakery:

1. Plaid Cymru Assembly Member Janet Ryder is removed from a Legislation Committee after voting against the Government on key amendments on the Learning and Skills Measure.
2. A student is expelled from Plaid Cymru after e-mailing its leader to protest about his party's unprincipled abandonment of a key election pledge on top-up fees.
3. A leading Plaid Cymru Assembly Member defends his leader's aversion to scrutiny by accusing AMs of trying to destabilise the One Wales 'junta'.
4. A leading Plaid Cymru PPC and Councillor is suspended as a candidate for allegedly talking to the media about her dissatisfaction with the direction of the party.

Plaid Cymru could teach New Labour a thing or two about party management.
Comments:
Peter,

Well, in all fairness, the lib dems are very good at not hiding their own incompetence.

Can i just say, without going OTT. Since i have joined Plaid i have seen a party very keen on being an autonomous party. I am more than happy to say that as a mouthy bugger, I wouldn't sit on my hands if I felt otherwise.

Any organisation will in my view have a leading cabal to a certain degree - information asymmetry etc.

I however cannot say anything other than Plaid have been borne out as a autonomous party, diverse and willing to tolerate differences of opinion.

Worth pointing out that Sally Morgan remains a member of the party and a PPC despite her forthright and very public e-mail. Would that have happened in Plaid? I doubt it.

Mr Black,

Numbers 1,2 & 4 appear to be internal party matters at any stretch of the imagination. Other than your obsession in relation to criticisng Plaid as often as possible, why are you so concerned?

Your clever use of language gives a misleading impression in three of these instances:-

"Plaid Cymru Assembly Member Janet Ryder is removed from a Legislation Committee after voting against the Government..."

The use of the word "after voting against the government" implies "because she voted against the government".

"A student is expelled from Plaid Cymru after e-mailing its leader to protest....etc"

Same point as previously. Have a look at the report. She was expelled (or resigned, depending on how you look at it, but let's say expelled for the moment) because she promised to work against the party.

Do you have liberal democrat members committed to working against the liberal democrats?

Reference to the One Wales "junta" implies that the quote is from the Plaid AM referred to. As far as I can see that would be a lie

"A leading Plaid Cymru PPC and Councillor is suspended as a candidate for allegedly talking to the media about her dissatisfaction with the direction of the party"

The reports indicate that it was for leaking internal party documents - nothing about the direction of the party.

Don't you think people see through your obsessive rants?

Very touchy subject for those selling themselves to New Labour.

PB I think you've got a bite!

I have to ask "Who is John Dixon?" I did a Google search and found at least eight. Way down the list was a Cardiff born John Dixon listed as a Welsh Nationalist whose greatest political achievment seems to have been a fifteen year spell as a Community (Parish) Councillor, now living in West Wales who charges his own Party (Plaid Cymru) for Computer work. This is not really a person of any stature who should be criticising a prominent Hospital Medical Doctor Consultant like Sian Caiach. It's laughable, like a mouse challenging a lion.

"This is not really a person of any stature who should be criticising a prominent Hospital Medical Doctor Consultant"

Really? Why not? What's her status as a hospital consultant got to do with it given that the issue at hand is nothing to do with her profession? What stature do you have to be to criticise someone?

Are we "little people" not entitled to criticise others unless we're of sufficent stature?

Can you set out the table which helps me identify who I'm allwowed to criticise bases on my stature and that of the person I seek to criticise?

OK, let's put it another way:- John Dixon, the Welsh Nationalist, is a self hyped nobody and also a loser. Whereas, Sian Caiach is a person of considerable substance.
