Methane

Half remembered quotation from the radio this morning:

"If every American dairy farmer cut their emissions by 12% then it would be the equivalent of taking half a million cars off the road."

Apparently, the key to success is in the feed for the cows.
Comments:
yep, see James lovelock Peter. Its cars, cows and chainsaws are the problem. The three 'C's

For the riddler its also the three C's!. Cigs, choc and cheese.
Noones perfect after all. Not even you or me..

Something to do with Methane being 70 times more powerful as a greenhouse gas c.f. Carbon Dioxide.

Something similar was mentioned on the TV programme QI apparently, Kangaroos have a bacteria in their gut which stops them producing methane, it's been suggested that this bacteria could be introduced into the bovine gut, so reducing the amount of methane produced by dairy farmers.
