Hi de hi
Family holdiays at Butlins holiday camps used to be so popular that they made a TV series about them. Now, according to today's Western Mail they are making a comeback.
The paper reports on a £50m investment by Pontins in its camps in response to market trends, which show increasing demand for budget accommodation among recession- hit holidaymakers. The Caravan Club has also announced a 40% rise in demand for holidays on its sites:
Pontin’s, which is now owned by Ocean Parcs, says its site in Prestatyn, North Wales, stands to benefit through a complete refurbishment and the creation of between 250 and 400 full and part-time jobs.
Prestatyn Sands will be completely refurbished with the next generation of guest accommodation fitted.
Pontin’s national programme is expected to create 6,000 new jobs at its six seaside locations.
This is good news for North Wales but not so good for those families who are having to change their holiday habits. I am fully supportive of people vacationing at home, it is good for the environment and it is good for the economy, but we should not forget that it took a recession to bring about this change.

Yes but the airways are hitting back with lower prices. Airways are saying with the drop in Oil prices they are now back in the cheap costs. But not to long ago I spent a week in North Wales and to be honest it cost a bomb and it rained every dam day. I went to Tenby for three days in the summer again with a disabled group, and again we could have gone to the South of France cheaper.
