A greater connurbation

There is an interesting piece in today's Western Mail in which a think tank argues that Cardiff, Newport and Swansea must work together as part of a Greater Cardiff to prosper in an increasingly globalised world.

The Western Mail tells us that in a paper published today called UK Cities in a Globalised World, author Hannah Brown of the London-based Centre for Cities argues that most of Britain’s cities are too small in global terms to match the presence on the world stage of a city such as London, and that many are suffering because of globalisation. She calls on political leaders to be realistic and to collaborate with neighbouring areas and cities to promote city-regional brands such as Greater Manchester or Greater Birmingham.

Personally, I have no problem with this concept however, just for the sake of clarity I think that it is only right that the resulting connurbation is known by its proper title of 'Greater Swansea'.

Missing smiley error? There are people around who will take this statement seriously as an example of Liberal Democrat hypocrisy.

Besides, the megalopolis should be entitled Nidum Magna. :-)
