Tory dirty tricks
Sara Bedford has the lowdown on the former Tory PPC who has pleaded guilty to a campaign of harassment against his Liberal Democrat rivals.
Ian Oakley, who stood down as the Tory candidate in Watford last month, admitted five charges of criminal damage and two of harassment. He asked for 68 other offences to be taken into account.
The Liberal Democrats have called on Tory leader David Cameron to hold an "urgent inquiry" into the procedures and activities of the Watford Conservative Party.

This is a very sorry tale, and it is to be hoped that life returns to normal for the Watford Lib Dems.
All the other parties are no doubt very aware that it could have been one of their candidates behaving like this, and I hope they are all (not just the Tories) examining their procedures and vetting of potential candidates, to minimise the chance of them getting caught out in the same way.

the "Welsh angle" to this story is that Ian Oakley stood in the Newport east constituency in the 2001 election. As far as I know there was no suggestion of similar dirty tricks there though.
