By convention
At long last the members of the All-Wales Convention have been named. It is an impressive list of the great and the good.
What we need now is some idea of what they are going to do and what they are for.

WHERE ARE THE WOMEN. THIS IS WHITE MEN GIVING MORE WHITE MEN OPPORTUNITIES. I AM EVEN MORE CONVINCED OF ITS POINTLESSNESS NOW!
The problem with this pointless list is that those involved represent just the vested interests that believe that they will gain if the Assembly gains more powers. The majority if not all of those on the Commission probably believe that a referendum should be held. What will now happen is a pretty pontless exercise as the caravan proceeds around Wales to hold meetings to gauge public opinion. Most of these meetings as with the Richard Commission will be attended by the usual suspects and been ignored by the vast majority. If politicians believe in more powers for the Assembly then they should hold a referendum sooner rather than later. Thye should have the courage of their convictions and set out what they believe wil be the advantage to Welsh people of more law making powers.
RE: "Where are the women?"
By my count, 5 of the 15 members named so far are women. While that may arguably be too few, it can hardly be characterised as "white men giving more white men opportunities".

Are there any from ethnic minorities? If not, a major own goal. But in any event, it's very much a group of the usual suspects.
well its good to see at least one member of the 'convention' - rob humphries - actually has a track record of supporting devolution for wales. Dont know bout any of the others but rob i know for a fact worked tirelessly in support of the Yes campaign in '97!

why on earth have representatives of farmers and faith groups been appointed to this pointless process?
I really don't understand.

Did Anon read the article? There's at least one ethnic minority woman.
If Peter Black doesn't know what they're doing, surely he can ask his fellow Lib Dems Rob Humphreys and Nick Bennett, who sit on the convention?

The main thrust of my question was 'what are they for?' No doubt the members of the Convention will find their own answer to that once they have met but that will not necessarily assist the Convention in adding any value to what is essentially a straightforward debate.
same old names and faces which is disappointing. look at the cv's, sat on this board, that group, this commitee, wales deserves better than these eople who shout loudest all the time
