Another station cat
Following on from Jonathan Calder's piece about Tama the nine-year-old tortoiseshell cat who sits by the entrance of Kishi station in Japan in a railway uniform cap, posing for photos for tourists, a Guardian letter writer reveals that we have our own homegrown version.Peter Argent tells us that Romsey station has an almost identical station cat that chases mice off the line, gets trains away on time and organises the booking office staff. Sadly, First Great Western have yet to issue the appropriate uniform. Give the cat a cap I say.
Sounds like a job for Sandra Gidley.

It is indeed the spitting image of the Romsey station cat - which, by the way, is the friendliest and most pleasant cat i've met.
