Sinking ship

When Wayne David, Chris Bryant, Sion Simon, Tom Watson say that Blair must set a date for his departure then he really is in trouble.

The Chair of the Rhondda Cynon Taf County Labour Party, Andrew Morgan said he would be very concerned if Mr Bryant were behind the letter, as the vast majority of his constituents in the Rhondda were not calling for Mr Blair to go.

He said: "Rhondda is a rock-solid Labour area, and this sort of stuff is coming from an insignificant minority."

If that is true then Rhondda is out of step with the rest of the Country. I believe that the recent Populus poll that found 30% of Labour voters and 51% of the general public wanted Mr Blair to step down this year is a fairly accurate reflection of opinion. In situations such as these I tend to fnd that the elected politician is more in touch than party officials.
Comments:
Well the Rhondda Labour Party and Chris Bryant have always been out of step. The majority of Labour stalwarts here were not impressed by the way he was foisted upon them by the party hierarchy.
