Labour MP tells Blair he is deluded
The Western Mail have taken a while to catch up with this story, which has been doing the rounds on the broadcast media for a couple of days. Still, it is nice to have one's opinion of the Prime Minister confirmed by a leading member of his own party.
Merthyr Tydfil MP and Defence Select Committee Member, Dai Havard, has lambasted British foreign policy as 'deluded', (it seems half the Cabinet, including the Foreign Secretary, agree with him), and has warned that Mr Blair's "misdirected obsession" with continuing a pro-American stance will lead to his departure from Downing Street. He says that all of Britain has blood on its hands by implication, until the Prime Minister supports an immediate ceasefire in Southern Lebanon.
Radio Wales has been full of Blair loyallists trying to hold the party line, including Caerphilly MP, Wayne David and an increasingly challenged Madelaine Moon from Bridgend, who was really struggling on Good Evening Wales yesterday.
I think it is fair to say that the gloves are off in the battle to succeed Blair.
